126 members of Congress put their name on a document backing up this legal effort to overturn the election. All Republicans.

It's so strange to me as an American that I have to vote for people for the foreseeable future who disagree with me on so much... because the other side doesn't even believe in democracy.

How is going through legal means to challenge the results "not believing in democracy" exactly? If all of them continue on this train then maybe.

The American people voted, and Joe Biden is the winner. Pursuing weak sauce lawsuits that have been rejected all over the country, and then Texas pursuing another one(joined by several other state AGs and 126 Republican members of Congress) shows that these people do not believe in democracy. The idea that just because it's legal for them to do something, means it's fair game, is ludicrous. They were trying to get millions of votes thrown out in multiple battleground states. This isn't something that people who believe in democracy do. This sort of effort has never happened before in American history.

It's an effort that, if the courts didn't follow the law and allowed it to succeed, would completely break this country. American democracy would be over if the Supreme Court granted the relief that 126 Republican members of Congress supported. That's not hyperbole.

Just googled "Texas lawsuit" since I wanted to see what the specific claim was and it's already been thrown out lol

Based on posts here it's about what I expected. Now that I'm putting some thought into it I can't think of a single thing another state could do that would give Texas standing to file something against it.

If you can't look at the shit processes alleged in that case and see a real problem with our voting systems then you are blind.

All of these states that are putting ease of voting highly above security threaten democracy in the same way you are so afraid of. The courts in these states don't even let independent experts look at the signatures for mail-in. Every single time they do signatures are brought into question and thrown out. The pandemic made it even worse as states lowered the bar yet again.

Whether you like it or not questionable practices in key states will produce a higher number of election deniers than usual on top of the spotlight seekers that spread Q conspiracy further.

Every state has a process to certify the votes. Go look up how they do it. The idea that there's some flaw in the system warranting overturning the will of millions of voters, only in the battleground states, is batshit crazy nonsense. And you're part of the problem if you sign onto the anti-democratic forces in this country who seek to overturn millions of votes.

If a significant chunk of voters buy into Trump's nonsense and don't trust the results, there's nothing that can be done about that. They arrived at that opinion with no evidence, and no amount of evidence will change their minds. If they want to be a fringe nutjob movement denying reality, as they have been much of the last 4 years, there's basically nothing anyone(on the right side of reason) can do about it.

I don't care if every single vote in the country is overturned due to bad process if that's what it takes to fix it. I'll gladly be part of the problem of wanting our elections to be secure and accurate.

People always think they are 'on the right side of reason' until it blows up in their face. You are backing the same thing now you were before its just got a shiny exterior instead of one covered in shit.

You're accepting a bullshit premise, that the election in this country was hopelessly flawed and corrupt. It's simply not true.

If you have a problem with the way states run elections, you can address it before election day. The process and laws on the books is how things will proceed. You don't get to overturn results because Trump lost. And you're an anti-democratic asshole for even considering it.

ain’t that the truth. fortunately precedent has been set by the privileged lefties, and denying elections are part and parcel of society.

this time around its because people wanted to ensure the election was done in compliance with the law and the Constitution. from 2016-2020 it was because lefties thought ‘russia’ went and “hacked the election” by posting memes on the facebook

look how angry icepeon is lol. these are the people who society has to move the goalposts for time and time again. because even when they get what they want they threaten everyone else with chaos and destruction, and project onto others their own shortcomings.
