He's got a point there. The swiftness with which Bolton decided to write this book should raise a healthy dose of skepticism as to the objective he's trying to accomplish.

Bolton's goal in life is to occupy the white house with the man or woman who will send the most white Americans to be killed in war. The fact that people regard anything that rat has to say is laughable.

So the democratic impeachment manager just said that it would be unquestionably an impeachable abuse of power if the president formally instructed his department of justice to investigate a political rival
But just a couple hours ago, they were also saying that there existed 'proper' legal channels for Trump to request an investigation into Joe Biden, by formally instructing his department of justice to investigate him.

Democrats have also been hammering away at two arguments:
  • That the investigation into the Biden's was "phony" and without any legitimate basis
  • That Trump committed 'bribery' and violated campaign finance law by soliciting a thing of value

I would be beating the desiccated putrefacting chunky salsa where a horse once rotted into the dirt if I harped on the ways the second argument violates the constitution and half its amendments (1st, 4th, 5th, 14th, and also the ex post facto clause)
but the first argument notably opens the door to Hunter Biden as a material witness to counter what the democrats are saying

If they hinge their impeachment on the basis that Biden did nothing wrong, then Joe & Hunter are clearly relevant.

Are you guys even watching the Senate Trial?

From all that I've watched, Trump's legal team has been killing it.

You forget that these people don't exist in reality and they perceive things that don't even occur, aren't said, etc.

democrats: those are the facts, this is what he did, this is who corroborated it, this is what the white house did to prevent providing evidence or testimony regarding something they claim was 'perfect'.

republicans: this process is a sham, b-b-but biden and o-o-obama, you can't impeach trump because he thinks that him winning the election is a matter of national interest (yes, that's really dershowitz' latest take on the issue - insert 'we are here.gif') - everything but addressing the substance of the allegations

what a circus, pathetic. i'm looking forward to the ridiculous spins that republican senators, who have to pretend to be at least somewhat critical of trump to win their home states (because literally everyone in the country knows he's guilty), will come up with for inevitably still acquitting him. probably boring old "well, it was just such a flawed process that i could not find him guilty with absolute certainty", or something along those lines...

I'm cool with either Biden testifying. Throw them to the wolves for all I care. I don't feel the need to protect the powerful. Rather, I think proper oversight and a more thorough investigation is warranted in this case.

Yet it's back on blocking witnesses and close things Friday. Following headlines.

It's really a "pick your poison" situation for Senate Republicans.

Yes, allowing witnesses would start endless battle, ultimately breaking up the majority. Blocking couldn't prevent damaging new revelation/material on medias, if there's any. Blocking also is damaging senators individually. They are reading Bolton's book now...

"For the sake of argument, one could assume everything attributable to John Bolton is accurate and still the House case would fall well below the standards to remove a president from office," South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said in what his office says is his definitive impeachment statement.
Sen John Barrasso, a member of the GOP Senate leadership, added: "Even if everything in the book is true, it doesn't rise to the level of impeachment."
And Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana said: "It's not even getting close to getting something that's impeachable."
The implication of such an approach is that leaning on a foreign nation for dirt on a political opponent is not an abuse of power or impeachable offense and is also a perfectly permissible use of the authority that comes with the President's office. That could have huge implications for the coming election and for the way future presidents use their power to further their political ends.

LOL

A predicted by a handful of users the GOP Senators are now acknowledging that a crime existed but that holding foreign aide from a country so that they will collect dirt for a political opponent is not an impeachable offense.

The old move the goal posts!

Didn't some people say Trump's legal team is killing it? Lol. Admitting to a crime and avoiding witnesses is apparently killing it.

Republicans would be panicked now if they weren't so confident in the Good Ole Boy system coming through on their guy this time. Time will tell.

This impeachment is a direct challenge to the Good Ole' Boy network and a lot of underachieving American whites are pissed. I have never feared meritocracy personally.

I think only three Republican senators are participating...the rest are advocates for the defendant.
