I mean right now the media is

But five security sources - three Americans, one European and one Canadian - who asked not to be named, told Reuters the initial assessment of Western intelligence agencies was that the plane had suffered a technical malfunction and had not been brought down by a missile. There was evidence one of the jet’s engines had overheated, the Canadian source said.
There's an image floating around of the SAM missile cap purportedly from the crash site, there's piercing and holes throughout the recovered fuselage at the site consistent with a fragmentation SAM blast and with no other explicable cause, there's the absurdly conspicuous timing of the flight going down over Tehran right as all the missile systems were put on high alert, and there's the fact that it was both videotaped descending slowly enough to have time to transmit and yet falling apart in midair as a fireball without any transmissions or radio updates, last one was before 'whatever happened'.
And yet if you turn on the TV tonight or read the news, unnamed sources are claiming it was 'a technical malfunction' caused by 'overheating'
