This is an uncertain statement. Had Trump won 2020, it'd be a near certainty. With Joe Biden as POTUS, the UK is in a fragile position.

Overall, I agree with your take, but if Biden damages US trade with the UK in favor of the EU, and proceeds with sanctioning Russia as the EU has been demanding for years, the UK's only option outside of dealing with hyper-inflated EU pricing designed to punish them will be trade with China. The UK is small beans though, and it's well within the character of EU leadership to pay slightly higher prices for Chinese product with the condition that China not undercut EU prices to the UK.

A Biden win was possibly the worst outcome for the UK, given the nature of their exit.

Biden has no incentive to ruin a trade deal with the 6th largest economy in the world and one of the biggest importers, and under what pretence? He threatened it if the Good Friday agreement wasn't honoured and, judging by recent actions, it's actually the EU that have done more harm to the peace process than the UK.

Well... To build back better, you need to bring equity. Easy enough for the US to bring equity to the UK with almost no recourse.

You say "6th largest economy" like it means something. To the US, the UK's economy is laughable. And you know it. I was simply pointing out the weakness.

You can't disagree on the merits of my post. But neither you nor I have the faintest clue on the motivations. We'll see what Biden does. I just find it ironic that a "Build Back Better" WEF follower is deciding your fate.

I don't see the merits of your post, I just see an assumption Biden might do x because 'Biden'. That is a lazy assumption

Also, by your logic every country in the world except China has a laughable economy. I suppose you're trying to convey that the benefits of a trade deal would be a higher proportion of the UK's GDP than the US', which is correct but not an argument against a trade deal for either country

'Deciding our fate' is a little strong when in reality we don't need a trade deal with the US (we didn't have one as part of the EU). It would be desirable as a counterweight to lost trade with the EU, but not at the expense of far lower food standards which the US is notorious for

Welp, a judge just ruled that our govt implementation of curfew is illegal, so per now it is cancelled. Govt will likely appeal but that will take time.

On one hand happy our judges can act against government overreach, on the other not happy since this will rile up the clown circus.

Though I wasn't that convinced of the effectiveness of the curfew anyway...

I think if your government tries to implement a renewed curfew, there will be even more violence this time around...

where does this hostility come from good sir?

you seem to be an angry individual, feel free to give me an argument

regulations, high taxes and energy prices will drive companies out, thats not an opinion, its a fact

when the EU enforces their green deal insanity any industry worth mentioning will be gone

and the skilled workers as well

Okay, so we'll go there. The EU was formed specifically to minimalize the impact of the US on EU member nations.

I'm telling you flat out that Biden's decision regarding the UK could beggar your nation. And I outlined how it's possible.

The EU existed to prevent that, but instead, they can easily utilize that position to enforce it.

I supported Brexit, as much as I can as an American. And now I'm telling you, it may well fuck you. You spent what, 4 years getting out? No hardline deals with anyone? That's not on me, mate.

And the US has higher food standards for the nations it trades with than any other nation. We've been providing 90% of the food for Japan for decades. We're awesome. 80% of our farmland exists to provide food (agricultural or animal) for non-US sources. We're not here to fuck you.

And I specifically wish to see the UK succeed. I simply wished to point out my concerns regarding the current UK position on the world stage. Why get upset?

After Macron made unsubstantiated claims against the efficacy of the AZ vaccine, as well as EU countries restricting the age groups offered the vaccine, EU citizens have such a poor view of it that they aren't coming forward for doses

France have only used 16% of their AZ vaccine doses and it's a similar story in Spain, Italy and Germany. Supply is not the only issue

With evidence suggesting one dose of the AZ vaccine reduces hospitalisations by 94% over a 4 - 6 week incubation period across all age groups, the EU must now attempt to reduce vaccine hesitancy if it wants to innoculate its population
