In person debates are useless for evaluating the candidates anyway. Maybe it's good for primaries where the field is large and needs to be quickly narrowed to the serious competitors, but in a 2 person race I've never seen the point. Not that I didn't have fun watching them though.

I'd prefer a kind of written or scripted debate, where instead of in-person questions they submit the questions to the campaign and get a video response or something. That way they have more time to think through the responses and we can get a more meaningful idea of the candidates positions.
