Poverty surely plays a role, but another reasons blacks are so disproportionately affected is that a much higher share of blacks lives in dense urban areas. And obesity and poor health is more common among blacks (which is of course indirectly influenced by poverty). And they more often work in lowly service jobs where teleworkign isnt possible and they have to keep exposing themselves to do their job.

Lol, if you seriously think a nationally known figure who has the support of the Kochs and all other Republican megadonors will lose reelection in his R+15 state, you're delusional. If necessary, they'd dump $200m on his campaign.

Roflmao!
Yeah, right, if the GOP senate was as Trump critical as the Dems, then the House wouldnt have needed to impeach him. It's the Senate GOP's fault!!!11

I'm sure this is also somehow Trump's fault, because he... uh... said something mean about Michigan's governor?!

All those things you've mentioned to testiclese are due to poverty. People not experiencing don't choose to live on top of each other and work shitty jobs and eat shitty food.

McConnell has a strong challenger now.

Republicans are incapable of criticism in the face of Trump, because he will crush them and they are licking his boots right now. He doxed one of the most powerful among them and will help in primaries against them in a heart beat if his feelings are hurt. They are incapable of masculinity in the face of Trump and seem to be constantly kissing his ass or being emasculated by him.

No, they did nothing and cannot be trusted to be anything but enablers. Battered wives club, just make excuses for his bad behavior and saying he will change.

Blacks disproportionately living in cities is not due to poverty. Being poor also doesnt have to mean that you eat shitty and become obese. It's harder, and you wont be able to eat quite as clean as a rich person, but it's definitely not impossible to come up with a somewhat healthy diet even if you're poor.

You mean that ugly woman... what's her name?
Ah, Amy McGrath. Just looked it up: she lost her race for an R+9 seat in 2018 by 3.2% in a D+8.6 national environment. In other words: she underformed by roughly 2.8%.
And this woman is supposed to bring down McConnell? I doubt it.

They are spineless opportunists, and always have been. Most politicians are. If the Dems were lead by an assertive bully, they'd fold just as easily.
Either way, you cannot reasonably expect a Senate caucus to be a general opposition to the president from their own party.

I live in a city and i have an acre to myself. Why wouldn't every single family choose this? You are really naive about poverty. Its expensive and it takes a lot of time to eat healthy.

The Democrats who were in Congress when Clinton was impeached wrote a resolution disciplining him over lying about his sex life. Republican party chose an impeachment that would not go anywhere like Pelosi did to Trump despite both chambers of Congress agreeing to discipline him in Clinton's case.

This is what we have to fucking deal with on the right. There's a bunch of news casters with differing opinions on the right using different theories or historical examples.

Then we actually get into a debate with a leftist and this is the fucking best you can do. "Hurr durr kill grandmuh"

You're not even worth the time of day anymore.

I'm naive because I say that poverty doesnt necessarily have to lead to obesity or malnutrition?! oO

That's because a majority of the population at large were much more prude back then and didnt condone Clinton's adultery, even Democrats. During Clinton's impeachment, a pretty big majority of the population thought that he did act improper, but that he shouldnt be impeached.

Nowadays, the country is much more polarized. The real reason why Republicans in Congress dont oppose Trump is Trump's overwhelming approval rating among the Republican base, 85% or higher. In the light of these numbers, it would have been career suicide for Republicans to impeach Trump or otherwise do anything meaningful to rein him in.
