I live in one of if not the most remote places on earth and the grocery stores here are people's bank accounts. Businesses deposit money into their account via their customer ID number. You can also mail money to them to have it on your account. It's how I pay all labourers.

The gov't also deposits social security in those accounts.

Hell, right now, most businesses are telling any government that attempts to mandate proof of vaccination to fuck off. There's a severe labor shortage right now, and most brick and mortars are so pressured that they're in severe jeopardy.

Nobody who can cook for themselves is going to dine outdoors in the winter, nobody who already orders things online is going to bother using brick and mortars for a damn thing if they start requiring excess steps to simply shop.
