Have you ever looked at the British gutter press? They are the worst. The absolute WORST. Not just in Britain, but around the world. There is no media more garbage-tier and dishonorable than them.

If British libel laws dont stop the antics they're pulling off all the time, then these laws dont stop shit.

You have people who believe WaPo and NYT.

Add in the people who believe Vox, MSNbc, CBS. Add in some right wing sources.

All of the companies at times have produced some good pieces, however, the mainstream stuff that gets spoonfed to the public and slapped on the front pages has some reputation for being awful and not validated.

Usually you can just analyze the article and piece together that something is left out.

Though we also live in a world where people get their main news from Memes, and just reading Headlines so, those people just blindly follow.

I dont believe in the theory that propaganda is almighty, that the media can make people believe anything out of thin air. In my opinion, the media can only make people believe things that the people are already inclined to believe anyway because of real-life experiences they've made themselves, or seen in their social circle.

The media is adding fuel to the fire, they're deepening the divides and accelerating the drifting-apart of the country - but they are not the root of this state of "cold civil war" the United States has been in for decades. The true root of all these conflicts are genuine and irreconcilable differences in worldview and policy - and the fact that both sides are roughly equally strong, with neither side able to gain the upper hand for prolonged periods of time like in earlier eras. (Say the Republican dominance from 1920 to 1932, or the Democratic dominance from 1932 to 1968.)
