"Virus accidentally escaping a lab in which coronaviruses where researched for harmless purposes" is very different from "virus created in a lab and intentionally spread around the world as a bioweapon".
Imho, this is a prime case for Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity".


China is currently trying to retaliate against everyone who challenges their narrative. The reason they're particularly aggressive against Australia is your particularly strong economic dependence on China. Perhaps also your relatively large Chinese diaspora which provide a large potential audience for pro-China viewpoints in the Australian public discourse.

Trade with Australia is just a drop in the ocean for China, while it's a huge deal the other way round. They are simply exploiting the asymmetric economic dependence between the two countries.

I am not saying it was spread as a bioweapon, i am saying that it probably escaped the lab and china is liable as the scientists are in the direct employ of the chinese government.
China is not going to want to pay for this damage so they are going into attack mode.

In general, I dont see a reason why a country shall be collectively responsible for a development caused by individual human error.
Like I said: the virus having escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Technology instead of the wet market imho doesnt change a lot (except for China having to look into its lab security regulations). What they are responsible for, however, is the response to the incident after it happened. And this response consisted of denying and covering up the problem until it was too late to contain it. THAT is the real sin the Chinese committed, not the fact tha some Chinese researchers may have fucked up.

There is already lawsuits happening.
Also i disagree, china creating it is much worse.

I'll wait for evidence and opinions from the scientific community who are experts on the subject. Currently the evidence says no.

And which court would be able to actually enforce a ruling in favor of the plaintiffs and against China?

It wouldn't be surprising if they had virus samples from bats or pangolins that trey didn't know were infectious and it escaped. That's basically just a zoonotic disease with extra steps.
