I wasn't saying we should be proud, I was just responding to dro94 who said it wasn't feasible.

It is.

Probably a lot easier to just force them to apply for citizenship though.

Your subjective opinion alone isn't an argument. Unless you have some sort of evidence that deporting 11m people is doable then I'm gonna stick with my solid theory

People won't stand for mass deportation and rounding up of members of our communities. Splitting up families and raiding friends and neighbors will cause completely unnecessary chaos. Far from feasable. America won't be electing trump so we won't have to worry about the consequences of that sort of dumbassery

I agree it's a stupid idea, but Trump is in favor of deporting 11 million people. That means he wants to ship them out of the country. Even if he got elected I think many law enforcement officers would refuse to round up the illegals.

trump wouldn't "ship" illegals out of the country because mexico is on the border :^D
where do you get that many law enforcement officers refusing to obey the law thing?

I'm against removing people that are established here and have not caused issues. It's unnecessary to remove them and disrupt communities and families.

do you think a debt to society while being illegal is not an issue?

When president Trump gets elected I don't know whether or not 11 million people will be deported but it wouldn't be the first president to deport on a large scale. people shouldn't be harboring illegals if they don't want to face the repercussions
When you say member of our community do you personally hang out with illegals?
11 million is such a disgusting number of illegals, need to build that wall

Donald Trump describes illegal immigration as a problem that is getting worse, not better. He describes illegals "pouring" over the border in practically every speech. So, what about the part that more unauthorized Mexican immigrants have left the country than came into the country since 2007? Why leave that part out?

If you just listened to trump on this issue and didn't look at any of the available information, you'd think illegal immigration is a problem that is getting worse, not better.

To be clear, I don't have an issue with a candidate making immigration reform a part of the platform. I just want them to discuss the issue honestly. You're kidding yourself if you think Donald Trump is going about this issue honestly. He's leading Americans on to believe a problem is getting worse when actually it has improved since 2007.

And if you did the same thing with Hillary, Bernie, Rubio, etc. you'd be just as ignorant. All those fuckers lie all the time in order to get votes. I'm not particularly interested in what a candidate says since actions speak louder than words.

That's certainly true. Believe me, I have big problems with the honesty of our government and leadership and citizens' seeming indifference toward it in recent times (see rant here: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=74731654&f=119).

But first, I think the amount Trump has exaggerated and misled Americans on this issue is particularly egregious. Worse, it's the #1 issue of his presidential platform. It's his key talking point. And it's based on a problem that is getting better, not worse.

Second, the excuse that "everyone does it" is not particularly a good defense. We should still be able to criticize politicians for lieing or stretching truths, even if everyone does it at certain points. Plus, as I mentioned, I think Trump has really been exceptionally misleading and just plain inaccurate on this topic, and it's the #1 issue on his platform.

Just a clarification question - Is that study only on illegal mexicans? Or all illegal immigrants from the Mexican border?

Only reason I ask is because there might be more from other countries that might balance it out more. But at any rate theres MORE illegals every year, so in a sense, since theres more illegals every year Trump wouldn't be "lying" by saying the illegal immigration problem is getting worse every year.

But yeah, politicians spin facts the way they want to.
