The concept of "states rights" focuses on the autonomy of states and their right to organize
their own economy and society. What California is trying to do here, however, is
limiting the autonomy of other states and underming the authority of the federal government. They are trying to
force other states to reorganize their economy to follow the ecologically progressive example of California.
