The cops are a mirror of society and the people they police
This is a really dumb take. We are all a mirror of our society to some degree, but cops are primarily a mirror of the system they work in. The system is the problem, not the communities. They are trained to view civilian life as expendible and to think that no matter what happens they're going to get off. The reason they're trained to think this is because it's been true until just a few years ago. The only reason we're seeing any of this is because of the increasing protests. If this was 20 years ago it would have been swept under the rug, the police would have been transferred to a different department, and they would have kept murdering people.
I went to college in an incredibly safe city. You know what the police did to my coworker? Beat the shit out of him and put him in prison until his facial swelling went down to take a picture to book him. You know what happened when he lawyered up? They transferred the police to a different department and hid the body cam footage. To actually get the police responsible would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.
