Republicans are looking to eliminate the IRS so they can cut out income taxes. Sounds great until you realize that those taxes will be passed on disproportionately to poor/middle class folks who will need to pay a higher percentage of their income towards increased sales tax, increased property taxes, etc

TLDR: Republicans want to accelerate the inevitable evolution of capitalism to feudalism.

Here in MN, food for home consumption, clothing, real estate, stocks, bonds, medications, and home heating fuels (amongst other things) are exempt from the sales tax.
