Palestine is just a pawn in this Arab - Israel conflict.
While the larger countries mess with the world at large, Palestine can... "keep Israel busy".
If the Palestinians win, great, if they don't, we're no worse off than we were.

the Palestinians are pawns, but Iran doesn't think they can win. they're using them as sacrificial lambs to try and bait Israel into crushing them and hurt their reputation. and Israel is taking the bait for all the world to see.

i linked the video that i watched recently, where he references studies and history to illustrate how little of a threat Hamas and specifically Palestine in Gaza and the West Bank pose. with actual casualty numbers.

the person being interviewed is a Jewish man who had both of his parents survive Concentration camps in WW2 where most of his family died. his main concern is the creation of a new martyr class of Muslims similar to what Hitler did.

rarely do you see the numbers laid out, "1 Israeli house was destroyed by rockets and 1800 Palestinian houses were destroyed". he does a good job of that and citing his sources, he's also done a lot more long form lectures and interviews, and regularly faces off against hardcore Zionist Israelites. but being the child of Holocaust survivors he's seemingly not coming from a pro-Muslim place of bias in my mind.

the point that stuck with me was that the destruction of Gaza was not the result of a threat in Gaza itself, but rather retribution for a failed campaign in Lebanon. and a way for the Israeli govt to suppress any ideas that they could be beat to the people of Gaza in a preemptive campaign of terror. worse yet this was all admitted by the Israeli govt.

This would be like the US govt losing a battle in Wyoming to one Indian tribe and deciding to murder thousands from a separate tribe in another state. its horrid.
