We're not talking about what legal and not legal when it comes to the actual use. If its legal to carry one, you're more likely to use it in situations that don't call for it. That's fairly straight forward. Watch any dumb road rage compilation on Reddit and you see idiots pulling out a gun from an accident. Yes it was legal to carry the firearm, what proceeded wasen't and it only happened because they had it on them.

The argument is 100% about legality. You are talking about disarming a society in which the VAST majority of gun owners go their entire lives without needing to use or breaking the law. Because of a few idiots who are breaking the law already. The solution is not more laws or gun control. Just ask Chicago or NYC.

Saying "no guns allowed in NYC" is like saying "you can't pee in this corner of the pool", then being shocked when the whole pool tests positive for pee.

many gun law proposals are dumb as hell but that narrative is illogical.

Perfect, If there are only a few situations where someone actually needed, I see no reason people should be allowed to carry one outside of hunting and recreational use, then we can also avoid the incidents that warranted unnecessary discharge because they were allowed to carry one and didn't have an emotional check to actually control themselves when using it.

I would also argue that gun laws have clearly worked pretty well in other first world countries. Now obviously the USA is a different animal due to the number of firearms per capita so that does naturally require some creative thinking. To say its an insurmountable task, I don't think so, but it would require an immense amount of time, 10s maybe a hundred years.

Most first world countries that have less crime also have less multiculturalism. And no the situations are different when you talk about having one and not needing it. When I say the vast majority go without using it I am not saying that the majority don't need it. Look at rape/kidnapping/robbery. All of which are capable of doing without a gun and very preventable with a legally owned gun.

Narrative? We tried gun free zones and all that ended up happening is the advertisement of nobody there to stop an evil person from committing evil acts. I see no evidence pointing towards more laws stopping crime.

yes, narrative. among 2a groups cities like chicago and nyc, with strict gun laws, are commonly referenced as proof that gun laws dont work. which again, is peeing into a corner of the pool.

disproving this poor logic that's often repeated doesnt in turn prove gun laws work. its just a bad argument that doesnt do anything to disprove gun law effectiveness.

If we can't agree on some of the most strict gun laws in America disproving that gun laws don't work then there is not much more to talk about.

There are bad people in this world who do bad things , home invasions happen , break and enters happen and so abductions . If you feel the need to own a gun to be able to kill anyone who poses a threat to the safety of your family inside your home then you should be able to do so legally .

I am also a firm believer of self defense and the natural human right to be a protector of your family .
