Just because you're too stupid to understand it doesn't make it incoherent.

they are against equality.

equality is cool until you have to run into bullets. then it's not lady-like.

Or it's just magic

more likely a case of dominant genes in the Elves, as all half elven retain the gift of immortality and have point ears.

dwarves however either can not or will not interbreed.

overall tho the fact that half elf half humans can still breed suggests a relatively close genetic makeup with just a few changes in chromosomes. obviously its fantasy but that would have to be the case. elves dont ejaculate magically or receive human sperm magically.

Or.... hear me out.

Magic.

It's a world of magic, not science.

that's a cop out imo. the world itself contains magic, and the world itself contains biology. grass grows, animals breed, diseases spread. JRRT gave his world the same mythos as Christianity from a non-interventionist sect's perspective. Wherein Eru created, and then Eru rested. Eru has only rarely intervened in the mortal realm post creation. He even sat aside multiple times when dark lords nearly tore his world asunder. So few times that JRRT listed them, one of which seemed to be fanservice on his deathbed. He's a hippy all powerful god who creates and sings songs, not everpresent in the world he created.

the fact that a world has magic doesnt mean you can't postulate with some accuracy how biological traits apply.

It actually means exactly that you can't postulate accurately. You don't have a way to check your postulates for accuracy. The simplest solution in a world with magic is "magic did it" so that should always be your default assumption.

Why was that dagger special? Magic. Why does the world go to Erus plan? Magic. Etc etc.

Sure you do. passage of traits.

LOTR isn't ASOIAF where the creator leaves things to mystery. some fantasy is like that, LOTR isnt. JRRT wrote thousands of pages explaining exactly how it works for almost everything. exactly why the dagger is magical is explained, what was done to it while forging it and exactly why it works the way it does, etc.
