its a question to provoke thought, what would be the pros/cons of changing one's skin color/ethnicity, and would you do it if you could based on your own life experiences.
to your point there are plenty of people wouldn't change a damn thing about themselves.
but there are also plenty of people that have wished their hair was different, eyes were rounder, skin was lighter, had more european like facial features etc because that's what society rewards/pushes as beauty standards and treats people. we know how society likes to treat 'ugly' people
Disagree.
Whenever someone asks this question it's directed at white people who don't believe they're privileged based off their skin color.
Then when a white person states. "I wouldn't change my skin color".
The individual who asked the question will reply with "That's because deep down you know you're privileged based off being white." It's used as an attempt to shame a white person for how they were born.(This is seen on youtube countless times, on countless channels)
It doesn't provoke thought. It's a meme question for individuals who are attempting to sympathize and understand the plight of minorities.
Most minorities would never change the color of their skin. Simply because they're taught to not be ashamed of it.(We all should be taught this, but we're not)
Shaming an individual for their skin color, no matter the color of the individual. Is wrong...
Judge a person based off their actions or don't judge them at all.
I won't respond to "There are plenty of people that wish they had x body feature".
That is an apple to oranges statement you just made.
We're not talking about "ugly" people as you put it. We're talking about RACE.
Bringing up "ugly people" comes across as you find certain races ugly. I don't believe that's how you meant it but that's how it reads.
Should you choose to respond again and continue the discussion. Please keep in mind I've made no comment to my skin color, nor have I made a comment towards my belief or lack there of, of white privilege.
Neither of these should matter in this discussion.
