I'm sorry you find it appalling that defendants need to appear in court. Remember, that you are entitled to legal representation, which can and will be provided free of charge if you cannot afford such services, and that your attorney can represent you without you being present. Regardless of your personal feelings on the matter, the founding fathers were quite clear that you are innocent until proven guilty.

You need to immerse yourself into the reality of it. Get accused of rape or "look like" a guy the police are searching for about a murder....it's jail before anything else.

Thousands of dollars on lawyer fees even if you are innocent....Name already in the news....Your job at risk due to crime related absence...List goes on about negative things that happen before you are convicted of anything.

There are people that spent years in jail through covid due to the absurd legal system delays before they even got a real shot at fighting for themselves.

American legal system is a for profit thing these days.

I didn't know you dodge points because inept, it's an issue w/ being guilty until proven innocent. Deal w/ it garbage eater.

The timeline is absurd depending on region/accusation is the problem. You can be in holding for months or years before you actually make any legal headway due to circumstances out of your control.

In my state of Oklahoma for example they are holding natives in federal holding for unknown amounts of time and just saying "we will get to it" because the Governor hates that the state lost jurisdiction.

There isn't anything to dodge. We can't even move beyond the definition of arrest and you are jumping the shark to the patriot act and now slave ownership? XD

Agree 100%, ... My point was more so that I would prefer we release people accused of crimes until their guilt is proven, as intended by our founding fathers, over HOLDING them until a trial, which is what the poster I was replying too was demanding. I'd rather let 10 criminals go free until their trial than lock up an innocent person...
