tcock arguing in support of biden’s border policy? someone spiked his arak for sure
Frankly, I don't know what Biden's border policy is b/c it's all over the place and ICE/CBP seem entirely dysfunctional. Having said that, the number 1 thing I want in regards to border policy is having more judges to process claims and facilities to store people in a concentrated way. More prisons, more camps, more judges.

Biden told illegal migrants to come explicitly during the primary. There's no form of border enforcement that Democrats don't oppose, and in the age of the internet, Central American migrants know it.
I don't remember this so you'll need to link me your source. I do remember several Democrats talking about decriminalizing illegal immigration (something Biden opposed) and Biden was constantly attacked from the left.

How else is the disinformation governance board gonna counter Russian propaganda? Publish fact checking articles or op-eds and hope that that's gonna convince the type of people who already distrust their own government so much that they'd rather believe Russian propaganda in the first place?
Oh come on, that's such a lame excuse. The U.S. government has a federal budget of 4.4 billion dollars per year. Do you seriously argue that it would be impossible for them to record Biden's appeal to migrants not to come, add Spanish subtitles or live interpreting to it and disseminate the clip on Latin American TV, radio stations and social media?
I rightfully ridiculed Biden for the brazen duplicity in his messaging. During the Democratic primary, he endorsed various policies which would increase or create pull factors for illegal immigration. During the general election campaign, Biden kept blasting Trump over his allegedly racist, inhumane and cruel border policies. After being sworn in, he rescinded the big majority of Trump's border EOs, including the highly successful "Remain in Mexico"-policy. A couple of months later, when confronted with the predictable surge at the southern border, the Biden admin began backpedaling and urged migrants not to come. This was, of course, just an attempt at controlling the PR damage; even at this point, the Biden admin kept refusing to meaningfully adjust its underlying policies.
Biden and his admin having paid some belated lip service to the idea of "please don't come" does not undo three years of (wider-)open-borders messaging and policies. This has created the fertile ground on which the lies of the coyotes are built. People in Central America only find tales about "just coming to America and being showered in government money" believable in the first place because that's the impression Democrats created with their rhetoric about a "humane", "welcoming" and "fundamentally different from Trump" migration policy. But instead of tackling this root cause of the recent surge, Biden and his admin instead set up a "disinformation board" to treat the symptoms (since that allows them to avoid confronting the open borders activists in their own party).
You're telling me that you can think of only one way to counter Russian propaganda? There are dozens of things you can do and each thing may require a different response. For instance, the US intelligence community intentionally nipped some of Russia's deep fakes in the bud by announcing that they would likely create them. For something like COVID misinformation (outside the scope of this program), telling the truth DOES help. I'm not sure why you'd be against telling the truth and immediately resort to censorship...it can be effective in certain circumstances.
No, I'm not arguing the bold because a Spanish translation of the US President speaking isn't a panacea. Hell, millions STILL came over the border under Trump and I have to imagine that illegal immigrants knew it was a risk too. This is going to require boots on the ground and will likely need to require the State Department to be involved as well. Every little bit helps and if we can get some of these people informed, you might save some lives. However, even IF you solve the disinformation problem, you're still going to have people coming over for 2 reasons and those reasons won't be solved...ever
1. The countries are unstable and people want what's best for their families
2. We're so much richer than those countries and people want what's best for their families
Obviously the administration KNOWS this but it's easier said than done...we've literally been dealing with this for decades and decades. It seems to me you're just not really informed on the issue outside of skimming right wing publications. The fact you blame all of this on rhetoric is one of the most intellectually lazy takes I've seen on the forum.
