Why is Mass on your list? The state is tiny and lacks geographic and ideological diversity. The only arguments in favor of living there is the high standard of living/the good wages.

Personally, I think that both Colorado and Washington (state) seem neat.

Lol.

MA / NH / TX are the goats.

I agree, Idaho is probably the best state of the union considering the coming nuclear Holocaustâ„¢

Can we talk about how notably absent California has been so far? Ten or 15 years ago, there's no chance we would have made it to page 6 in a thread like this with no one picking CA. It used to be one of the top states on such lists.

Just wait until you read page 1. I think you'll be quite surprised!

Oh fuck me...
Okay, so we did have two mentions for CA. The larger point is still valid imho: California used to be THE place to be, the number one destination. Nowadays, not so much.

The best part is that you literally quoted one of them

IMO, California still is the place to be. It's got beautiful nature and thriving industry. It is expensive AF though but that's the price you have to pay.

I can't stand humidity so I'm pretty limited to where I want to live.

You have a forum that leans heavy conservative thinking CA isn't that great. Color me shocked.

Some people value dignity and freedom. Two things the state government of Florida want you to have. You can stay in places where they prefer told be told what to do in every waking moment of their lives.

Less subjectively, Florida is one of the more business-friendly states, universally agreed upon by a spectrum of sources.

We're talking about Florida where they've accepted auto fine machines on traffic lights lol. You can are sounding silly.

Why would I remember a fleeting conversation I had 12 hours earlier?

California is chock-full with geographic gems, and it combines Mediterranean climate with lower humidity - which sets it apart from places like Texas or Florida. So yes, I actually totally get its appeal. But economically, it's kinda stagnant. SoCal hasn't grown notably in over a decade and in the Bay area, you need to earn something like $120k to barely make it above the poverty line. I wouldn't be surprised if California's median (!) income has grown significantly slower than its cost of living over the past decade.
