Then why hasn't he already been deposed? If the leader of any democratically elected government (and Russia is a democracy despite Western propaganda suggesting otherwise) is assassinated, there is a clear chain of command which sees a replacement take the position within hours if not minutes. Everyone in Russia's government is siding with Putin so killing him can only be of benefit if:
A: his replacement is willing to deescalate and receive no benefit in regard to Russian security concerns
and
B: his replacement won't also get killed or otherwise removed by someone who is more willing to escalate than deescalate.

Neither of which is even likely let alone certain.

It isn't a democracy is there is only one candidate dude. Lol.

You don't know if Putin has popular support he is hiding from everyone and won't let his advisors near him.

I bet Putin is banking on Trump winning next election so he can normalize relations and legitimize the invasion, remove sanctions, prevent aid to more Eastern European nations.

No, no, the odds to have someone worse are super low, imo the History teaches us that it failed when the leader had sons, nephew, brothers, to replace him.
Here he's terribly alone and put Yes-men from KGB era as top officials. Plus any new leader can't do that, they need years to establish their absolute authority.

It is a democracy, and there are opposing candidates. In 2018 the front running opposition candidate was Vladimir Zhirinovsky. He was not the only other candidate running. There were 6 other legitimate candidates.

I'm not buying Western sources when the West is in full propaganda mode. When I still had access to Russian news I could balance Russian propaganda vs Western propaganda but that is no longer possible as Russian news sources are no longer accessible without more effort than I'm willing to engage in.

At the moment the only source with any claim to neutrality that I have access to is Al Jazeera and even they have some stakes that could bias their reporting. Basically, everyone is lying and I know it. I'd have to actually go to Russia and stay there awhile to get a feel of what the Russian people actually think. That isn't happening.

No what history actually shows is that the person who takes over in a power vacuum is generally a psychopath.
