I want to make it clear that I will never support slavery and (im very much anti-slavery btw, including whatever you guys did in Libya now) but that is the history

Dont forget that hundreds of thousands were killed( American culture is centered around Terry Davis copypasta instantly comes to mind). Nevermind the fact that Northern generals were also racist, but all of these men willingly laid down their arms and forgave each other and the Reconstruction era followed. This period will be glossed over and erased in the future history books.

You are removing your own monuments...not that I care though lol.

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear, let me try again:

History is taught in textbooks and schools not by monuments to losers of the civil war.

Funny that you bring up this specific quote by MLK in a post defending CRT - it is one of the core tenets of CRT and adjacent ideology that a colorblind society is not good enough and that achieving racial equity requires society to engage in perpetual hypersensitivity to race as well as in active counter-discrimination.
The goalposts and rhetoric have shifted so massively in recent years that in the debates surrounding CRT, it is the Republican side which is sounding like MLK or Barack Obama from 2008.

The real funny thing is that you miss/ignore the sarcasm and act like that one quote is an accurate summation of MLK's values and isn't just a single line from some single speech that conservatives cherry pick to completely ignore the systemic criticisms that MLK made throughout his life.

YOU are the one who posted this selective, allegedly misleading quote from MLK without context. And while MLK went far deeper in his systemic criticism and his endorsement of violence as a tactic of political protest than conservative spin doctors want to acknowledge, his endgoal was indeed a colorblind society in which race is irrelevant, rather than the predominant factor of all social interactions that proponents of CRT want to see in it.

"it was the democrats who fought for slavery" - trumpers

"no, dont take down the robert e lee statue erected in 1964" - trumpers, also

imagine being a "student of history" while also ignoring the ideological swap.

The weather is and always will be the biggest reason I left the south, with people like this being a distant 2nd. The racism is still so bad, but the weather is much, much worse. But the strangeness of it all is how hard people are trying to be worse than their awful, awful weather.

I posted it in the context of mocking the republicans and their stance on CRT and the teaching of history being taken over by the liberal/socialist/communist/woke PC left, when they are simultaneously taking actions throughout the country restricting what teachers can do, particularly if they are teaching anything that is buying into the exemplification of American excellence. You then proceeded to further demonstrate my point with "it is the Republican side which is sounding [more] like MLK" when my entire point was that the right was deluded, and trying to revise/white wash history in their favor.
