If I buy fast food, I get what I paid for. Terrible analogy.
They knew what they were donating to. GoFundMe just didn't like it. Gofundme should unfreeze the funds and let it go through. Let the stupid donaters learn from their mistakes.
As for the donating to random charities part, the IRS should get involved.
GoFundMe is a for-profit private company. They charge 2.9% + $0.30 for every donation. Their business model requires that their customers trust them.
The top donors to GoFundMe have been heavily involved with things like Antifa, BLM, and other such groups and their connected riots, as well as various hoax hate "corrective" funds.
Effectively, their client base is far enough to the left that GoFundMe even being seen as somehow "supporting" some "right-leaning" pro-worker cause, such as bodily autonomy, could lose them a metric fuckton of business.
I understand fully why GoFundMe would not want to be involved. From a business standpoint, I can even agree with them simply refunding everything. From their business model's perspective, I'll even disagree that they should unfreeze the funds. A refund would be better.
There are other processors who'll allow for funding for the trucker convoy protest. GoFundMe doesn't need or want to be involved, therefore they shouldn't be.

Someone setting up a GoFundMe and saying it is for the trucker convoy is hilarious you gotta admit.
If whoever set up the GoFundMe was cleared to use the funds, and utilized them for anything other than what was claimed (less reasonable administrative fees) then they would also be guilty of fraud, and would likely end up in prison. It's happened many times before.
