Covid has been more like an 'uncommon cold'. Its the first time since we've had detailed global contagion tracking that we've had a disease deadly enough to raise death rates by a significant margin. Its probable the world experienced waves of such events every few decades, not as noticeable as a true pandemic like the spanish flu. A bug could sweep through the country and kill old people and mildly influence most people, and it wouldnt be in any history book
