That would not qualify because the verse is about intentionally destroying your body. If there are unknowns, you wouldn't be at fault.

To add to this:

Mormons are particularly strict when it comes to substances (they can't even have caffeine) so other Christians don't really have a leg to stand on.

You know that there may well be potential mid-long term side effects that nobody can know about.

You have the option not to take the vaccine until those side effects can be discovered or dismissed.

Therefore, you're knowingly taking action that may harm the temple.

It's a pretty cut and dry thing. The fact that you and I don't share their beliefs doesn't mean they don't have them, or that they can be discounted.

And institutions do not govern belief. In the case of Abrahamic Religions, texts govern beliefs. One person or one institution's interpretation means nothing.

How many religious people do you know that abstain fully from consuming anything that another human had a hand in producing? The person rolling or packaging your sushi rolls may have dosed it with cyanide - this is an unknown.

How many religious people do you know that abstain fully from both corn syrup and every single drug that impacts the liver?

Quite a few, honestly. I know quite a large number of... I don't know what to call them? Orthodox Mormons? No idea the proper term. Also some Amish. Also have a few Muslim acquaintances who won't utilize any form of caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, any pill form drug of any form.

Going to that though, "impacting the liver of any form" does not directly apply to what I posted. You'll have to cite whatever it is you're going on about. The liver is designed for digestion and filtering out toxins. Pretty much everything you eat or drink to sustain yourself "impacts the liver". I know of some other text that indicates against taking mind altering substances and such, but where's this "liver impact" coming from?

Sorry - please see my edited post.

And I'm not sure you need to worry about your Orthodox Mormon friends being persecuted by their employers.

I was speaking directly to your statements,

Anything you consume could have long term side effects that harm your temple. Hell, even an apple you planted and harvested yourself could harm you some day down the line if you develop allergies.

Most of my Orthodox Mormon friends ARE the employers. :P

And with your edited question, I don't believe that's relevant. The mRNA vaccine messes with your cellular structure. Granted, we think all it does is mess with it just enough to cause a group of cells to produce a spike protein, and give it a couple weeks, all direct impact is gone, and only the indirect impact of it's training to your immune system is what's left. If that's correct, that's incredible. Give it 20 years, it'll be the fully accepted gold standard to all but the truly "antivax".

The problem isn't knowing who made it, or what's in it. The true problem is that "unknown factor" that any new medical methodology brings. So like, many of these same people will take the annual flu shot. The methodology is time tested and verified. It's only the specific formulation for what it targets that changes. Where with the mRNA vaccines, they're completely new to human trial. That's where the issue arises. As I said, 20 years and no unwanted side effects? I'll agree that I know of no particular religious exemption that should apply, other than maybe the Satanic Temple's hardline "Bodily Autonomy" stance.

This is stretching it awefully thin. You know your apples are edible in general. Could the apple contain a parasite or something similar? Sure. There are risks in life, and everyone dies. What we're talking about is knowingly ingesting potentially harmful substances. And until you complete the phase 4 studies for mid/long term effects, the mRNA vaccines qualify.

Too bad congress can't make any laws respecting any establishments of religion :/

Get ready to give Satanists carte blanche on abortions lol.

Brave argument against all of medicine.

I know your OM friends are the employers, which is why you need not worry about them. They're a self-sufficient people, generally.

Sunlight can mess with your cellular structure so... not sure what people that paranoid should do next. Any ideas?

The Satanic Temple, not Satanists carte blanche. :)

You forgot a key part: "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

If the free exercise thereof involves not introducing potentially harmful substances into your body, there you go.

Again, we're talking about the violation of bodily autonomy in the first place. This is the government, or employers, or whoever else telling you "you must do this thing" not a prohibitive law such as "do not shoot someone in the face". One is designed to force you to do what you do not wish to do, which stands a chance at positively violating your religious practices. The other prohibits you from doing things that violate other people's rights.

Your right to be obtain vaccination is unaffected by someone else's choice not to vaccinate. They aren't shooting you in the face. If you opt not to vaccinate and end up dead, you shot yourself. Suicide's not illegal, only attempting suicide is illegal. Honestly, you're all going about this wrong. If a religious person is in an at risk group, it's easier to make the argument that they're knowingly placing their temple at grave and potentially lethal risk by not taking the vaccine, as the gun has already been shot over the world, and the vaccine is the only armor that will keep them safe.

But hell, what do I know?

Sure, that's fine. But that doesn't mean you're getting a religious exemption. In addition, you can simply opt to have a weekly COVID test so there's still a choice.

The Bible tells you how to perform an abortion. Do you think that you should have a religious right to an abortion in Texas? I don't. There needs to be SOME institutional support for religious exemption because otherwise you could avoid secular law entirely.
