We need to stop sending them aid and start giving them knowledge but only if they ask. Otherwise they will never learn and continue to run the earth into a desolate wasteland.
This has been one of my passions actually and good land stewardship is something a must know if you want to own land in the future is what I believe.

The point I wanted to make is that overpopulation --> climate change --> land goes to waste / turns into dessert.

Those problems in Madagascar are caused by climate change -at least that's what we're told, world-wide overpopulation being the root cause.

Did someone already point out by the way that every population growth model shows a climb to 9 or 10 billion followed by natural declines in birth rates across the globe which results in decreasing world population. The problem is solving itself as people get more educated and use birth control etc

The problem will solve itself, but if we wanted a quick fix solution I can think of millions of uninhabited acres we could send morons to. Namely, northern hemi upper latitudes.
