Jobs = Slavery. People should actually be happy they will be replaced by robots and will be able to live their lives with a fixed income. We're heading that road and it's not too bad. Most people spend way too much on things they don't need at all (New phones, expensive clothing, many cars, boats...) and all the other things they buy to be part of the cool club.

A huge percentage of what you truly need to survive can be obtained for free if you got the skills.

Entertainment builds intelligence. You are wrong when you say that telephones and computers are an unnecessary luxury.
Without computers, Americans, Chinese, Russians and Israelis would be attacked by savages armed with knives.
You really think it's a luxury.
Minimalists always forget one fundamental thing: the Earth is in perdition. Global warming, political tensions, etc.
Greater intelligence is essential for the survival of all of us.

But I agree that we could fight poverty by strengthening basic knowledge and skills.
My dream would be to create a hammock for each tramp. If I could sleep in a hammock instead of sleeping on the floor, I would thank heaven.
