and it's not like "china / chinese virus / flu" was a name that the disease got "naturally". it's not like people were predominantly calling it that because of its origin or something. no, it was commonly known as "corona" or "covid(-19)" before conservatives tried to actively RE-brand it, which is where the racism aspect comes in. it was a deliberate decision, an extra effort they made, as famously illustrated by this photo someone took of a trump press conference:
