Think we have beaten mrna vaccine to death now but it’s different in that the target antigen is an mrna sequence vs a traditional protein antigen. We have never needed to produce a vaccine to the “common cold family” and a traditional protein antigen vaccine would become obsolete after 1 season due to high genetic drift rates common to the coronavirus family. Mrna vaccine offers more specificity especially when it comes to antigen drift. More expensive to produce , more expensive to maintain, never an incentive to do it prior to global $$$

I appreciate all this information.

If you had to explain in one or two short sentences why the vaccine is safe and why they should get it, what would you say?

I'm going to have to confront family in a few days and I need the best arguments. These are people who are hesistant/paranoid of it.

There were 45000 participants. In other approved and safe vaccines 10000 have been used. This gives a lot more opportunity to see side effects compared to even very safe vaccines.

It had a very diverse cohort with something like 30% people of color which also adds to safety.

this guy is border-line normal though highly misguided
one of the accentuating the format of proper dialogue however i haven't seen much real talent here at all lately tbh

do you know what it's like to convert percentage chance of collision while driving a car in the blind spot of a randoom noob into a geometric representation of risk and visually watch it shrink, leaving the danger zone by driving faster or slower?

I appreciate that. Is there even more basic rationalizations? I'm trying to appeal to people who don't know anything about the history of vaccinations, or science at all.

I was planning on defending it with references to other vaccines that they've already taken.

tetanus shots seem to be okay preventing rust infection. they insist you take it but idk about fighting it because.... well... they say rust problems (biological) can escalate rather quickly to the point of incapacitation before being able to call 9-1-1. i assured them that at the first sign of losing capacity that i would hurry to a phone but they convinced me that the time between infection and help might be so haste that you'd be fucked
