It's been like 20 years since democrats have been against wars/growing the military. Why was there such a strong chorus against trump from democrats when he tried bringing troops home from Afghanistan & Germany? Why were the democrats crying about Trump not wanting to get into Syria?
Military spending, or for that matter, discretionary spending in general, is the tiniest fraction of Federal Spending anyhow. Dems want to take more away from military R&D and drastically expand mandatory spending, leave the rest mostly untouched, where Republicans want to chip away at the mandatory, so maybe we'll have a chance to pay down the deficit some.
I mean, at this point, payment on interest on the deficit is up to what, 400b? half a tril? That kind of annual waste is absurd. You want to fund great and wonderful things? How about we NOT try to run the debt up so high that we're paying $1t+ on interest alone, yes?
