ICE is a necessary & integral element of immigration policy. Pretending it's not and waiving it to the side because you don't like that fact is immature.

If someone is too fragile to have an honest discussion then a better place would be with like minded friends.

TIL:

1. Without ICE, America would have either no immigration policy and/or no ability to enforce an immigration policy.
2. America, I guess, didn't have an immigration policy or capacity to enforce immigration policy prior to 2003 since it's dependent on ICE existing, which ICE wasn't formed until 2003.
3. ICE is, apparently, the only government entity that enforces immigration policy.

Really weird ride this thread has been.

I'm not sure how you can say the bolded, and then criticize the fact that this whole thing started by me responding to the following:

Then debate that ICE as it currently exists is necessary, instead of being like everybody else and insisting it's the same thing as eliminating immigration policy all together.

the topic title reads Abolition. Not debate ICE as it exists currently, which is indeed necessary.

We could easily abolish ICE, make a new department that does the job in a different way, and then still have an immigration policy while abolishing ICE.

Do you believe that ICE's existence is necessary for immigration policy and/or enforcement of immigration policy to exist? That without ICE, neither immigration policy nor enforcement can exist?
