Honestly when I saw this and wondered how dumb these people were, I had to go out to my garage just to double check what kind of handgrip I had
then I saw a plastic anchor grip and remembered, rope loops, while easily made from the rope itself, are actually pretty terrible grips.
A loop grip on any heavy pull will compress your fingers inwards from the sides and make it quite painfully to pull, definitely not ideal for heavy weights like when I pull my sailboat
a proper anchor-shaped grip makes your knuckles space outwards from each other and distributes the load more evenly
of course none of this is a concern for something as trivially light as a garage door pull thats counterbalanced with a torsion spring
