Last time I checked, more idiots cared about Kim Kardashian's insta than the front page of the New York Times. I could probably rustle up some numbers to confirm that too.

The times still has more impact on the public discourse and the future political direction of the country than Kardashian.
Attention from the apolitical or batshit insane masses rarely translates into political power.

Perhaps yes it rarely does translate to more political power, but we are living in abnormal times as I'm sure you'll agree. I dunno if you noticed, but the batshit insane seem to have all the power and momentum right now.

The loony far-left is raging itself out right now, and then either the conventional Biden will take over and rein in the fringe left, or we get another 4 years of a president Trump who might be slightly insane, but definitely not batshit insane, and whose power keeps eroding due to his own inability and self-inflicted wounds.
