America really needs better safeguards. BLM would scream about low level cops in harms way making split second decisions, but what really offends our civil liberties is that law enforcement at high levels is given blanket immunity for their official actions and choices no matter what maladministration or corrupt practices they engage in. The courts giving them immunity from law suit for carrying out their duties should at a minimum never apply to willful corrupt conduct. Not just conduct that is fraud for personal financial/property gain. If the heads of an ATF squad make decisions out of willful malice that could get people killed in a standoff, or FBI heads leak classified information to papers, or spy on US citizens with legal basis using fake evidence- they should be held criminally accountable and be able to be sued in civil court. They shouldn't be able to claim that as an agent of the government they are immune and the only recourse is to force them to retire.
When these agents set up their spy thriller wannabe entrapment scheme, they
knew they were playing political games, they knew it was unethical, they used illegal wiretaps to set it up and had political motives and suppressed the evidence. How many prosecutors are in prison right now for "obstruction of justice" charges around America from suppressing evidence?
