Well, a lot of people are dying because of firearms unlimited™ this is not a secret, data is here, and if they love it, it's their choice and they perfectly deserve it.
And if they don't but an oppressing minority is pushing for it, using some deprecated write-on-the-stone constitution, then they deserve my *thoughts and prayers*.

Could you get assault rifles in Canada?

I could get one here, but i would have to call a friend, and he might have it dig it up, and i might need a lot of cheese to get something illegal like an AK-47 that is fully automatic.

A semiautomatic Armalite sporting rifle isn't the same thing and when the predecessors of this gun, the M16A2 and M4 carbine were designed they were designed to shoot to wound and not kill anyway, which is why they use the little 5.56 nato rounds and not something chunk like a 7.62x39 that is made to rip holes in people.

You kill and enemy you take them from the fight. You seriously wound one you take him out, his two buddies who will have to take him somewhere or do a med evac, trying up even more resources, and then require healthcare....keeping a handful of people from fighting and messig with this wounded man..

It doesn't help at all they're banning things but are using incorrect terms. Just going to create legal problems because for example an AR-15 just isn't more dangerous than a hunting rifle designed to kill large creatures with large high powered rounds.

An AR is more than a .22 lr with rails but not by a lot.

How much gun violence is actually in Canada?

If you could make a chart showing AR deaths since the 1960s, when AR-15 rifles first became available in Canada, and when we could hunt with them (until 1993, when the Canadian government restricted its use to government-certified target ranges), it would only show a grand total of two incidents where murders were committed with AR-15 rifles, and both of those incidents were gang hits that were committed with AR-15 rifles which were smuggled into Canada from the United States specifically for those gang hits.

Our PM going to be getting many fewer votes next election cycle, even the current average liberal knows this is ridiculous and won’t stop any murders considering north of 90% of murders are committed with handguns. The firearms community has complied with every law, every regulation, regardless of how ridiculous they are. We enjoy our sport safely and without issue

And now the gov't is prepared to spend billions of taxpayer dollars to confiscate legally acquired firearms from the very people not committing the crimes

"To own a gun, in Canada, you must be 18 years of age and obtain a firearms licence, which requires going through a screening process, a background check, completing a public safety course and observing a mandatory waiting period."

canada = 31 guns / 100 people

from "Why Canada’s gun death rate is seven times lower than the United States"

My opinion is Canadian gov is trying to reduce spectacular events happening with this kind of weapons ("domestic" two handed semi auto, right?), simply.
I'm also curious if the sales for this kind of weapons are increasing vs regular one handed.

Is there any evolution of these numbers in the recent years ?

I think Toronto has done a very recent study on it. They have a handgun problem. Again, all illegally required weapons anyway and no gun law will change that.

Living in a society means giving up some rights. Some people are comfortable with limiting capacity for self defense with the understanding that it actually makes everybody in that society safer, and others would rather flail their arms and scream 'MUH FREEDUMBZ"

Derp. The fact that you used this comment in the same post as "muh freedumbz" is definitely ironic.

I'm talking about people getting seduced by semi-autos vs classic one handed in recent years (and i could understand why). Thus i'm not pushing for researches on this point but it can also be a preemptive move from government. Price evolution too.

Blick Rifle Coffee is banned under Canada's new AWB. Because these are not people who have well-thought-out and reasoned approaches to issues, they're knee-jerk reactions.
