In a competent way is code word for taking 20 years to actually leave. Troop deployment to Afghanistan spiked under Obama to 100k soldiers. Now grant it, he did eventually dwindle down those troops to under 10k and wanting to completely take them out by 2016. I find it hilarious though that a eventual complete withdrawal was the plan under Obama yet 4 years later Trump wanting to fulfill that plan and low iq lemmings just parrot mainstream media points which can always be reduced to trump bad.
Pretty much everyone in this thread keeps skirting around the facts I mentioned about Hillary. Your ‘in general’ claim doesn’t hold true according to recent history and unless someone like warren or yang wins I have little faith in them following through on their non interventionist pledges.
No... it's more like if we're going to leave Syria, let's not randomly announce it one day without coordinating with our own government and allies, but then backtrack days later. Or let's not sabotage the Taliban peace talks because you want some reality show moment with the Taliban at Camp David. Or if we're going to give KJU legitimacy by meeting with him, let's get something out of it, and not bizarrely praise him for months afterwards. Just because Democrats criticize Trump for his blatant incompetence doesn't mean they disagree with the underlying decision to engage in diplomacy or withdraw from conflicts.
And yes, Hillary was an interventionist. Obama was more of a cautious interventionist. Parties are capable of changing.... Republican voters went from electing Bush twice to choosing an isolationist.
