It was a beautiful Tuesday morning. I lived at my brother's house at the time. Surfpunk woke me saying a Cessna flew into the WTC. I got up right away and started watching the day's events unfold. We watched on live TV as the 2nd plane hit. We knew it was no accident right off the bat, and being a veteran, took it as a personal shortcoming for somehow failing to prevent it, as if I could possibly have done anything to actually prevent it. Contrary to his memory previously posted, I called him while he was on the way to work to inform him the first tower had collapsed. He had to pull off the road to compose himself. I too had to work that day, but couldn't bring myself to go in for hours. I lost my battle to quit smoking that day.
You couldn’t have prevented it.
The security was all private businesses and got used to not doing anything.
