I'm not sure what would cause the left more anguish. Trump 2020 or Pence 2020.

I really think they'd have more of a problem with Pence. He's the physical form of their hatred.

they would pull the whole “i miss drumpf” as they are with GWB now. always a more “evil reich-wing facist national-socalist tyrant that needs to take our arms and rights away”

I sincerely hope Pence gets elected at some point in the future(I strongly think he'll be a candidate after Trump). The sole reason is to see the outrage of liberals, it would be glorious.

The femiNazi's would literally die if he were elected - actually cease to live. Free Vagina Hats for everyone!

it will stop people from buying guns until 21!!!! because stopping people by law from purchasing a product that is linked to violence, and is dangerous in hands of angry people, until they are 21 has show to have 100% effectiveness

Does not have 100% effectiveness. Not worth trying.
Like antibacterials and contraception. Why bother? There's a chance they won't work.

The possibility for negative outcome of using contraception or antibacterial soap, even if it fails, is minimal.

Can you assume the same when it comes to modifications to the 2nd Amendment?

I'm all for gun control. I think Trump is doing a good thing here - I especially loved him calling everyone out for being scared of the NRA. Was incredibly unpresidential but deffo quite lols.
I'm dead set against subverting due process though. It's the cornerstone of the legal process.

So yea - even when he gets something right he can't help but say some dumb shit alongside it.

Ye. Pretty unlikely anything bad is gonna happen just because you have to get a license for your weapon.

Besides the financial vortex that such broad laws creates at a federal level (see Canada), you are correct, there are no particular ill effects to fear for this type of regulation.

On another note, is it safe the assume that licensing isn't the only type of control you would like to see? What would the possible negatives outcome be for a ban on "assault-weapons" for example?

i think it was one of the more presidential statements he's made in a long time. Dems are afraid to alienate their NRA voters and so are the GOP. Putting it forward and calling them out helps break the gridlock. I took it to mean "let's have an honest talk and not care about the lobbyists for a minute". I was frankly surprised he was so honest about the NRA's effect in politics. Now when he started to bullshit with the "there's no bigger fan of the NRA than me, that i can tell you" stuff, that's not very presidential. Getting the elephant out of the room was tho imo

yes, and he is actually absoultely right that if there is a guy with mental instability on official record, or when there is a guy that causes multiple, unrelated neighbors to call the fbi, then his guns should be seized quickly. he can and should of course get them back if a due process ends up dismissing the accusations. but going without his guns for 6 or 12 months in such a case is an acceptable inconvenience.
