If you consider not reporting the whole truth to be "fake news" then almost every news outlet that exists is fake news.
Especially when they give personal opinions on the matter and don't represent both sides.

Government regulation of news outlets is bad but letting news outlets skew their reports for their own agenda is also bad.
It's just a shitty industry.

If we let this administration regulate news it would be the end of the country.

Of course. The entire media/news is bullshit.
The only way to regulate it would be to force news outlets to have neutral opinions and represent ALL the facts.

Only way to accomplish this would be to not allow news networks to have paid advertising.

Because if the primary way news media makes money is by how many people watch its content, then news media will always be tailored to be sensational and be beholden to its advertisers to get the most views.

You remove advertising and then there's a greater chance news media would be more likely to portray better content.

At the very least they could reference the study they're speaking about rather than just "a study blah blah blah hugging people causes cancer"

What are you referencing?

I'm giving an opinion on the state of news media and paid advertising and why it is bad.

News coverage in general
I'm saying if nothing else changes then that would at least be nice
To help people form their own opinions

We need to stop calling editorials and punditry news. Point fucking blank.

It would be the end of very fake news. PBS, NPR, and PRI would still be doing fine. Trump gets along with them because they are real reporters.

NPR has a minor but noticeable left lean.

They lean but they still report the news. I'd also say that by leaning left they are closer to the center, because they are definitely right of center to begin with. If you want left wing radio Pacifica is what it sounds like.
