Also, election was twenty years ago, and was regarding Hispanic voters in California.  The GOP didn't give a shit about voter ID until blacks started voting recently, so I can't really see how some old racist losing an election in a district that became heavily Hispanic after redistricting is relevant.


They can only detect people in the INS system as having applied for citizenship. No telling how many Mexicans voted, they're not in INS databases.

It shows how easy it is for an illegal to vote, and that no one tried to stop it.

I agree with ya. It seems like a good enough law. I just hate hearing people say that this movement is actually about having more honest elections when it is indeed about lessening the amount of votes cast overall.

Voter ID is a necessity because many US residents are not citizens, yet vote in elections. So, Voter ID the only action to protect the integrity of democracy.

The only people who have a right to say who is elected into political office are the people that are legal citizens of this country.

Either issue a free voter ID card or make them pay, doesn't matter.

You are making this baseless assertion like it is some self-evident truth. Show me where voter fraud is a problem? There are dozens of actual problems our legislatures could be addressing, the economy being one of them.

The reason our legislators aren't addressing the economy is because of voter fraud, in that the idiots you support keep getting elected.

The reason the economy is tanking is because people are scared to spend money, due to the current people in office. Look at the dollar velocity index!

Voter ID laws in Utah are pathetic. The DMV wouldn't accept an official stamped letter from the county clerks office as proof of residency. Voter ID laws are entirely about disenfranchising groups who are unlikely to vote republican.

It was on county letterhead and they wouldn't take it? Seems more than reasonable proof to me of residency. But still, residency and voting eligibility due to citizenship are two different things.
