I wanted someone to talk to. I don't remember why. It's not like I was harassing anyone; I knocked on 3 or 4 doors before giving up. They were all people I knew.

So you admit that all they have to go on is how I am presenting. And thus, poor presentation is grounds for institutionalization in America. If I was in India like I should have been they would have left me alone after they realized I didn't want to be bothered.

...from just the little bit you have revealed I would immediately suspect paranoid schizophrenia . Are you currently receiving any therapy including medication(s) ?

The definition of psychotic episode is cultural. Dissociation is not necessarily psychotic; I understand your perspective, but only I know if I'm a danger to myself or others. I'm telling you that I felt very good and in no way wanted to harm myself. Or others. I just wanted to be left alone.

...just an observation based on commonalities in others similarly afflicted , not meant to be a diagnosis . I do applaud your agreement to accept help .

Webster says the schiz in schizophrenia stands for "split : cleft". What makes you say I was split?

Wasn't relating it to that, suppose it could be in some way. Was relating it to schiz[oid]

Don't think Schizoid is in DSM-V, oh well.

Here's what I was trying to explain by claiming my diagnosis had a cultural bias (from your link):
Quote
Some psychologists argue that the definition of SPD is flawed due to cultural bias: "One reason schizoid people are pathologized is because they are comparatively rare. People in majorities tend to assume that their own psychology is normative and to equate difference with inferiority". Therefore "[t]he so-called schizoid personality disorder is one of the more blatant examples of the APA’s pathologizing of normal human differences.

Also, personality disorders just describe extreme types of everyday personalities. Most people lean in one of the four ways personality disorders describe...when it gets so far away from normal (and functioning) it becomes a disorder. It is only a disorder if it causes discomfort or diminished functionality. It isn't in the DSM because it is a personality disorder not mental disorder.
