Note the word Mostly, I do not deny that geographical elements played a role in their underdevelopment. Africa is an extremely rich continent, perhaps the riches in natural resources, but also very dangerous and harsh for sedentary life.
But look dipper. The tribal wars of today are really the result of the way colonies randomly redrew the map, putting bitter enemies together, separating allies,etc...
And all this infighting and corruption has left their economies and societies devastated, leaving them incapable of fending off diseases.
