I would counter that I am merely realistic about politics. You have to play to win, or don't play. If your opponent is willing to cheat, lie, bend/break the rules, and you aren't, you'll lose. It's not about suffering, it's about being practical.

The vast majority of my opponents don't cheat against me and I've gotten my fair share, therefore I hold politicians to a similar standard even if they don't meet it. You seem like you're surrounded by people who cheat against you.
