perhaps the rhetoric on both sides of the aisle is to blame. we raise kids to tell them the country is doomed, they'll never have social security but will be destined to pay into it for their whole life. that illegals will come in and rape them and steal their job. that world war 3 is around the corner. that fascism is here again. inflation will destroy the nation and stop them from ever having a fulfilling life. that the world is poisoning them with their food, medicine, and even air. the climate will get so hot we all face food shortages and starvation. that every device they have is just the result of a long string of slavery. to never go online because its a dark place, as we check 4 apps on our phone. that the govt will force them to be trans, and that a trans teacher will molest them.

well, if there's ever a time to remind ourselves that the children listen this is it. if there's ever a time to remember some things are for adults to talk about, and that the very topics we might discuss could act as harbingers of doom for our children's mental state, now is also the time. im going to go home and play ponies with my daughters and tend to my garden and try to remember if i can that the world isn't ending and the very worst thing for them is to think it is. you can live for a time without food or water, without money or a house, but once hope is gone so is your entire future.

If I want to specify that this is the first non-transgender/queer/alphabet/whatever female school shooter, I could say "cis" or "cisgender" and you'd get it. "straight" wasn't really be accurate since that's muddled with trannies and I'd still count the first female school shooter if she was a lesbian anyway. There have been cis female mass shooters / lone wolf terrorists before in other contexts. There was the demented iranian youtuber who attacked the youtube headquarters, and even among spree killers / terrorists / etc the woman is usually tagging along with a boyfriend ala bonny and clyde. Ie Syed Rizwan Farook + Tashfeen Malik
