At least from my side, the current young people (high school age to early college) absolutely despise the woke crap and anything reminiscent of lockdowns. They'll openly joke about it as opposed to my generation where it was socially taboo throughout university. I see the bulk of support for "woke" stuff coming from the generation that has already passed university (25 year old ish) where wokeness was in full swing. They all have their stories on how horrible the lockdowns were and related absurdities of remote classes and stuff like that. This isn't just young men too, the young women are also recognizing that "woke" stuff is for women who are very unattractive, obese or otherwise unlikable and unhygienic. They're more open minded in that they question what they're blindly told which causes them to recognize the total absurdities of what constitutes truth from the regime today.

People have, and will continue to have, complex feelings or outright rejection of many specific examples within leftist thought. This, I see, as a very healthy and beneficial thing. I don't know that that will eclipse the inertia though, because you increasingly have a younger generation who has personal, first-hand relationships with diverse people whereas older generations, including many people on this forum, much more easily engage in hostile rhetoric because their primary exposure is online.

Thanks for sharing this. I'll have to continue to look into it more, because the other major polls I've seen (including others from Gallop, which is a primary source in your link) have shown a generational trend where younger people identify less with democrats and more with independent positions as opposed to increasing identification with republicans.

I'm socially conservative and I think the left's own weirdness on several issues can be exploited by the right. Putting your pronouns in your company bio to try to accommodate less than 1% of the population is weird. Calling Hispanic people Latinx is weird.

And this is coming from someone who proudly calls the Trumpists weird.

Luckily the Harris/Walz ticket is, at least so far, avoiding most of this weirdness.

Why do you think Trumpest are weird? The normal Trump follower is a person working daily while hoping for a better economy and boarder being properly held. Do you really think all the random shit you hear from extremist from the right represents the norm?

I know hundreds of Trumpers.

To answer your question.... Yes.

The ironic thing is, that most Trumpers don't even realize they are voting against their own good.

What policy is Trump planning on implementing, with an actual source to his policy/with data, that will be better for America? You see how he plans to increase tariffs? Dude knows NOTHING about economics... But ya'll keep voting against your own good

The strange thing to me is that Trump happened on so many different correct viewpoints seemingly by accident. Tariffs are absolutely necessary, obviously not to the extent that Trump is throwing around, but the alternative is getting screwed by a Chinese government which is more than willing to manipulate its currency to create favorable conditions for its trade surplus.

Of course tarrifs are necessary, any person with basic econ 101 understands this... the problem is, Trump doesn't have basic econ 101 skills. He is a failed businessman, a conman, and only wants to help himself. If Trump is elected and actually follows through with his terrible tarrif hike, the average American is screwed.

Yup, that is what happens when you have a former president adding 7-8 trillion to the deficit, Trump's poor unemployment %, and his botched covid response.

You think inflation just appears out of thin air?

any democratic president with or without a pulse would have added far more to the deficit in the covid response phase, its silly to suggest otherwise. you think HRC in the whitehouse would have greenlit LESS aid and PPP loans? less stimulus checks? hilarious.

I live in Chicago and one of the House Reps running Jennifer Sanalitro is trying to conceal the fact that she is Republican. Can't make this up

Also, she was a Jan 6th protestor
