You are right, however, that Trump had already started regaining his lead//DeSantis' poll bounce had already come to an end before the first indictment. So it's not like the indictments are the only reason why GOP base voters flocked back to Trump; the more important reason is that DeSantis has run a disappointing campaign.
Ron had a great short run of headlines for republican hardliners, and it came at a time where Trump running wasn't sure. education reforms, attacking WOKE disney, shipping out immigrants, etc. But all u need to do is listen to him and see there's no fire behind his eyes to lose excitement quickly imo. i dont even know if he's cabinet material.
