Pure crap, there are people who just walk into the woods and live there for the rest of their lives, again, you are talking from your main character syndrome, not everyone thinks like you.
There is a guy living in the bush near claireview in north queensland who has been there for at least 25 years, he wants no company and shoots at people who get too close, the police can't even find him when they try look for him.

Think about which group of people in constantly here posting how other people should think and act.
I am a real libertarian, not the type that thinks we should just let corporations walk all over us, the kind that just wants everyone left alone unless they are killing, molesting, assaulting or stealing from some one else.
We need about 20,000 less laws and for people to just mind their own business.

In modern society, individuals decide what kind of life they desire. Is this the problem here? The gf and I just visited her mum's heterosexual life partner's condo by the beach. She's a wine and cat mom in her 60s and she seems to be doing fine btw

You know I didn't want to answer with a wall of text because some things are obvious but I have to elaborate obvious things apparently: why are you trying to normalize outliers as the rule of the society? Yeah, some people grow up old alone. Some learn to cope with it, some are very sad. Probably most are sad but they can't do anything about it. You just see them from time to time with their cat +wine or the male version with that forest dude.

Now, tell me, can you make a healthy, well functioning society with people like those? Let's say, making them 30-40% of the society would kill the society. The fact that you sit there behind the screen and type something is thanks to a mother and dad who brought you to this world and invested time+money to raise you. Would they be able to do that in a non functioning society?
Of course, there will always be people who lose on the dating market or aren't interested at some point anymore but that shouldn't be something a society should thrive for.
