Nothing. This isn't an organic movement of concerned parents. It's a very small movement of Republicans trying to rile up their base because the usual wedge issues of civil rights, gay marriage, and abortion are off the table.

The civil war occurred greatly due to union states not honoring the fugitive slave act. It boiled down to, “well if we agreed to honor each other’s laws, and that agreement has been broken, what the hell are we doing?”

California has introduced legislation explicitly saying they will not cooperate with any state officials when it comes to using their state as a sanctuary to drug your children. As I have explained several times in the past, the legislation protects kidnappers in the name of hormone therapy drugs. It doesn’t even specify one parent kidnapping the child from the other parent. They could hold the children in state funded facilities.

This is an apples to apples comparison between pre civil war and today.
