Who decides what is categorized as “extremist”?

I can 100% guarantee bet my life that the Nashville shooting was spared the “extremist” tag.

I have not heard one single example of somebody committing mass murder in the name of (lol) Donald trump once. That would be headline news for months on end.

On May 15th, 2022, David Wenwei Chou killed 1 in a hate crime targeting Taiwanese people because he was pro-China and anti-Taiwan. This was not related to "right-wing extremism" or in fact any domestic political divide, it was foreign-motivated political violence with no left/right affiliation in the US. If you tried to force a left/right classification onto it, then it would wind up being left-wing violence because it was aligned with Communist China.
In August of 2022, black nationalist Carl Roy Webb Boards II murdered a police officer. He was a member of the Black Hebrew Israelites, a far-left black identity extremist group already involved in multiple other terrorist attacks, notably the New Jersey kosher deli attack. In the left/right divide, they are clearly and provably aligned with the left, they exist only among populations that vote exclusively for democrats- left/right is a political affiliation, not an ideology, that's how muslim activists wound up being aligned with the left despite being socially regressive.



I've given two counter examples, clearly your source is wrong. If your source was the ADL then we already knew they were wrong because Jonathan Greenblatt is a shifty jew

The ADLs entire schtick is that they classify left wing terrorism as right wing terrorism, and non-terrorist attacks as terrorism. Go look through their data. Some redneck was a member of the aryan brotherhood in prison. Years later he kills his wife in a domestic dispute after catching her cheating. ADL calls it a right wing terror attack. Despite zero political motive. Then a left wing black nationalist terrorist in a far left district goes out an murders jews and police officers while screaming about fighting the white supremacist power. The ADL calls it right wing terrorism. Thats the whole basis for the ADLs HEAT map. Click on any random data point and its bogus

Again, as I said, left/right political affiliations in the US are absolutely not ideological, but rather political affiliations which have entrenched themselves and often have conflicting and mutually exclusive ideologies. This is why big government warhawk corporatists and libertarian isolationist union workers can both be republicans. And its why socially regressive muslims who think gays should be thrown off roofs are allied with transgender activists. The black identity nationalists are an obvious example of left-wing terrorists who have many views opposed to centrist neoliberals, but they're clearly aligned with left, not right- all their representatives are democrats, their hotbeds of activity vote uniformly democrat, the democrats dog whistle to them or just openly meet with them like ellison does.

Well, one party in the US is in bed with the chinese (rather literally in the case of Swalwell) and one is hostile to them. The democrats want "free trade" with China, the republicans want trade war.
And as I said, when it comes to Taiwan both parties are pretty stark in their opposition to China, which is what makes an anti-Taiwanese hate crime effectively left/right agnostic. It doesn't align with democrats or republicans to any degree. Instead it was some crazed nutter who brought foreign political motive into an american theater.
So it doesn't really make sense to call it either left or right wing extremism. But if you're going to force it to one side, its closer aligned to left. But the ADL went and nonsensically calls it right-wing extremism

Yes prior to 2016 both the GOP and DNC were in China's pocket on trade. Trump seized control of the party and made it anti-China. Neoliberal third way democrats and RINOs have pretty indistinguishable policies, but comparing George Bush to Donald Trump at this point is a bit like comparing Franklin Pierce to Barack Obama
