It could be considered strawmanning if I was presenting an argument, which I am not. I am just providing a small example of where the majority of statistics come from.
school shooting happens, "our gun deaths are simply too high, we need to do something". clearly eluding to the number of kids killed in schools, which is a monthly almost event at this point. "ummmmmm actchualllllyyyyyy those ummmmm gun stats you love so much to talk about are caused by gang shootings".
this is a double strawman, because the person eluding to gun stats is not only eluding to school shootings, but is also anti gun violence and wants to work on those gang shootings too. you don't, you're providing context in a gotcha attempt.
again, this has been done so many times in pard and in general society it's hack, it was hack 10 years ago. in general dont prevent stats on a "problem" you're not even interested in fixing, that's just a dishonest way to approach a conversation. unless your stats provide context on why the problem doesn't need to be fixed, like trans bathroom assaults, which almost dont exist. gang shootings show a clear picture, they need to be fixed in some way, and its gonna be expensive no matter which road we take.
